FAQs

Why should I buy Pouch Pals?

Small changes in our homes, schools and community can add up to big changes for our planet:

  • Less plastic in land and ocean fills;
  • Fewer animal deaths due to plastic bag ingestion;
  • Reduced demand for plastic baggies means less energy and oil used and less pollution created.
  • You save a significant amount of money by reusing your pouch pals instead of continuing to purchase baggies year-after-year.

Lead by example and your friends and family will follow.  Before you know it, your small eco-step to use Pouch Pals will make a big difference for our environment. In fact, each reusable Pouch Pal can help eliminate the use of countless disposable plastic snack and sandwich baggies over its lifetime.

What materials are used to manufacture my Pouch Pals?

The exterior fabric is 100% cotton. The interior fabric is 100% nylon with a polyurethane coating on the underside.  This coating keeps the food fresh but does not come in contact with the food.  Our nylon does not contain PVC, Phthalates or Biophenol A (BPA).

How do I care for my Pouch Pals?

Care Instructions: Turn inside out. Wipe out with a damp cloth, air dry and re-use or machine wash and air dry or tumble dry low.

Attach the Velcro sides to each other when washing in the machine to avoid the bags sticking to other items.

What does Pouch Pals mean by ‘short term’ storage?

Short term storage means no more than a 24 hour period.

Foods that do not need to be kept cold include:

  • Peanut Butter Sandwiches
  • Cookies
  • Crackers
  • Chips
  • Nuts
  • Dried Fruit
  • Fresh Uncooked Vegetables
  • Fresh Fruit in the Peel

Foods that should be kept cold in a packed lunch include:

  • Meat sandwiches
  • Tuna or Egg Salad Sandwiches
  • Milk, Cheese, and Yogurt

Where refrigeration is not possible, include an ice pack in your lunch box to keep the contents of your Pouch Pal cold until lunch.  An alternative for sandwiches is to freeze them to keep them safe. We recommend freezing the sandwich in a glass container and transferring to your Pouch Pal before adding to your lunch box.  The sandwich will thaw by lunch time. Yogurt can also be frozen.  Lettuce and other greens do not freeze well. Pack these separately and add to your sandwich before eating your lunch.

* This product should only be used for short-term storage of food. Food should not be frozen, cooked, or microwaved in this pouch.
